The topic of this workshop is placed in the field of interaction design. The
goal is on one hand to elaborate new applications for a tabletop-interaction
system, but also to work out scenarios for user tests for this and another
collaboration set-up, which will be introduced during the workshop.
This
workshop will be conducted by two universities – ETH Zurich and Chalmers
University Gothenburg.
This workshop takes place on June 13th and June
14th (9.00-12.00h, 13.00-16.30h), 2006 at Chalmers University, Gothenburg. It is
open to all interested people. Ideally but not necessary, the participants have
a background in the field of Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW),
Human-Computer-Interaction (HCI), or experience in conducting user studies of
hardware prototypes. The workshop is organized and moderated by Martin Küchler
and Ramon Hofer, who are PhD. Students at the ICVR of ETH Zurich. Martin Küchler
designs hardware prototypes which support spatially distributed groups in remote
collaboration processes. Ramon Hofer is starting a project on tangible user
interfaces (haptics), which will support the selling process of complex
products.

Dear colleague,
This is the first call for a second Ph.D. workshop on
Virtual Reality, to take place at Chalmers, Gothenburg, 13-14 June 2006. The
workshop is enabled through a STINT stipend granted for research collaboration
between the Innovation Center Virtual Reality (ICVR) at ETH Zurich and the
Interaction Design Group (IDC), CSE, Chalmers.
If you should be
interested in taking part in this workshop, please inform me briefly , giving
your name, affiliation/position, and area of interest.
Please forward this
call to anyone else who might have interest as well.
Intended
public: PhD and MSc students in Interaction Design, Human-Computer
Interaction, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer
Graphics.
Affiliation: Student/researchers from Chalmers and ETH,
but people from other universities/industry are also
welcome.
Teachers: Morten Fjeld, Chalmers. Martin Kuechler
(ETHZ), Ramon Hofer (ETHZ)
Issues to be covered : Designing a new
system for tabletop interaction; design several user tests for objective system
evaluation.
Teaching forms:Exercises,
Brainstorming/Discussion
Estimated teaching time :2 days, each
day 6 hours.
